The MA5C Spectrophotometer is designed for accurate evaluation of metallic and pearlescent automotive paints.
It uses five standard measurement angles (15°, 25°, 45°, 75°, 110°) to simulate how the human eye perceives color under different lighting conditions, ensuring precise assessment of special effect finishes.

  Granularity refers to the particle size of aluminum flakes and pearls. Matching granularity is essential for a perfect refinish.

  • Level 1: Fine silver or pearl

  • Level 9: Coarse or mixed flakes
    The MA5C identifies particle size, enabling the software to select and fine-tune formulas with higher accuracy.

How to Select the Best Formula

The system provides multiple formula options. Selection is based on:

1. Image Comparison – Evaluate hue and depth from spectrophotometer-captured images.

2. Granularity Match – Keep within 1.0–1.2 for best accuracy.

3. Spectral Curve Overlap – Higher overlap across all five angles means closer match.

4. Formula Scoring – Corrected formulas usually score lower (better).

5. Direct Match – If the exact OEM code appears in corrected formulas, it can be used directly.

If no exact match is found, the database allows manual analysis of spectral curves and particle size data, enabling users to compare and refine formulas for the closest possible result.
